Hi, I'm Brian and I am so excited to be an ambassador. I moved to Cincinnati about a year ago and loved trying to learn and love as much of this city as I can. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, I grew up to love my Cleveland Sports teams (Indians, Cavs and yes the Browns). I work in education, and after teaching first and third graders for 9 years, I am now working as a Coordinator of Extended Learning. I enjoy bourbon, beer, burgers and exploring. Since I am still relatively new to town I pride myself on getting out and exploring Cincinnati! Where should I go next and what must go to restaurants have I missed?

Where did you grow up?

Born and Raised in Akron, Ohio

If you’re not a native, how long have you lived in Cincinnati?

August 2018.

What does community mean to you?

Community to me means a lot of different things. Having commonalities with people, a mutual trust, a feeling of fellowship and passion for something greater than themselves is what a community is all about. Being new to the Cincinnati area, being able to identify with a group of people who have all that in common to me was something I was seeking and looking for. The way the Jewish community of Cincinnati has accepted me with open arms tells me all there is to know about this community, its special!

What’s your favorite place in Cincinnati? And why?

Currently, as a newbie, my favorite place has been Nippert Stadium watching FC Cincinnati. I am a huge soccer fan and the fan support and atmosphere at FC games is unbelievable.

What do you do for work?

I work for Mariemont Schools as the Coordinator of Extended Learning. It’s an amazing job and I work with some of the most innovative, creative, and best people in education. If you have 45 minutes, I will tell you all the different programs I get to work on!

Last meal.

A Swenson’s Galley Boy (an Akron staple), a cold beer, with the biggest Reese cup I can find. I’m sure there would be a steak a appetizer as well!

What are your go-to ways to relax?

I am a huge fan of spending time, relaxing, talking, and sippin on some wine with some friends. If I am not in the mood to socialize, binging Netflix and listening to some music is a must.

Travel bucket list.

I’ve been blessed to travel in my life, however, If I could choose anywhere to go in the world right now Argentina or Ecuador would top my list of South American countries and Alaska would be my domestic choice!

Favorite Jewish Food

I come from a long line of parents/grandparents who love making traditional meals for the holidays, but my grandfather’s gefilte fish, made from scratch, has to top the cake. I am glad he taught my mom and brother step by step directions before he passed away and I hope to learn how soon!

A piece of advice you would give 13 year old you?

Smile more, worry less. Life is going to come at you fast, and throw roadblocks in your way. Stop worrying about the small things, and enjoy the ride. You are blessed with a loving family, amazing friends, and lots of opportunity, take advantage, don’t settle, and just laugh!

If you could accomplish one big thing in 2019, what would it be?

Explore Cincinnati, meet as many people as I can, and take chances!
